Additions to Rental Car Fleet - Available this summer Season
Touchdown Car Rentals have recently added to their fleet, bringing the total number of vehicles to 80. Furthermore, there is some availability over the coming busy summer season!
New to the Fleet: Brand new Subaru Outbacks, Brand new Toyota RAV’s and Highlanders (SUV’s), Brand New Toyota Corolla Cross.
Two new Ford Mustang Convertibles have been added to the fleet, with older ones having been retired. They are both V8 sized engines!
These new vehicles join the fleet which includes cute Mini Countryman, Mercedes Valente Van and the powerful Ford Mustang convertibles.
1/3 of the fleet are hybrid.
Touchdown Car Rentals has depots in Christchurch (at the Commodore Hotel – 24/7 Airport shuttle service) and in Queenstown.
Note:
Pick ups/drop offs to a different location require a minimum 5 day hire and attract a relocation fee as follows: ZQN-CHC $NZD 500 and CHC-ZQN $NZD 400.
Congratulations - Edgewater Lake Wanaka
Edgewater has recently been awarded the Gold Qualmark sustainability rating, complementing the 4.5 star grading. Previously Edgewater held a Silver Qualmark, 4.5 stars.
The move to Gold reflects Edgewater’s continued journey towards sustainability throughout the property. More details can be found here.
Queenstown Roadworks + driving times to the airport
You may be aware that Queenstown is roadworks ‘central’ at the moment with major beautification and roading realignments projects.
As a consequence travel times around town and to and from Queenstown airport can be longer than expected.
Please let your self-drive clients know about this so they are not surprised.

Birthday Congratulations
Both the Hotel Montreal and Commodore Hotel Christchurch celebrated birthdays in recent months.
In October it was the turn of Hotel Montreal celebrating one year under the ownership of Patterson Hospitality.
Then in November it was a big celebration of 50 years since the Commodore Hotel was opened by the current owners’ father. Such a milestone.
Pictured at left is Michael Patterson, with his son George cutting the 50th anniversary ribbon. Michael’s cowboy attire is a reenactment of opening day when a young Michael performed the same honour as a young boy.
More Congrats - Queenstown House: Luxury Lakeside Apartments
Queenstown House Lakeside Luxury Apartments scored FIVE STARS APARTMENT in their recent Qualmark assessment. This is the highest star rating! And to complement this they were awarded a silver enviro badge. The 5 X 1 bedroom apartments/studios opened in the middle of June 2021, and are superbly located on Queenstown’s lakefront.
